Fact Check: AP pre-poll survey results of Atmasakshi Survey Group were fudged

As the state Assembly elections are fast approaching in Andhra Pradesh, several organizations nationwide are conducting pre-election surveys and announcing the results.

As the state Assembly elections are fast approaching in Andhra Pradesh, several organizations nationwide are conducting pre-election surveys and announcing the results. One such organization, Sri Atmasakshi Group has also conducted a survey estimating the mood of Andhra Pradesh for the 175 Assembly constituencies in the state up to March 2024 and released the survey results.

After this, several social media users started sharing the survey results along with the image of the statistics as

When translated, it claims “AP: Atmasakshi Survey 2024. TDP + JSP + BJP – 53.5 % votes. YCP – 41.5 % Votes. Assembly : TDP + JSP + BJP – 136 seats, YCP – 21 seats, Keen Contest – 18. Parliament: TDP + JSP + BJP - 20 seats, YCP – 2 Seats, Keen contest – 3 seats

Fact Check:

The claim is False. The image in circulation has been modified to show different results than the SAS Group has published in their report.

When we searched using the keywords “Atmasakshi survey 2024”, we found a few YouTube videos analyzing the results of the survey report. The analysis videos clearly state that the report mentioned that out of 175 seats of Andhra Pradesh assembly seats, the YSRC party appears to win 93 seats, the TDP alliance appears to win 50 seats and 32 seats will be keen contest constituencies.

When Telugupost approached SAS group for further clarification of their survey report, we found the original survey report of Atmasakshi states that TDP/JSP/BJP alliance appears to win 50 seats, YSRC party appears to win 93 seats and 32 seats are in keen contest.

Sri Atmasakshi group CEO, VR Murthy also stated that some fake and unauthorized persons are circulating a fake report in the name of Atmasakshi Group with fudged numbers to make misleading claims on social media platforms.

Hence, the claim that the Atmasakshi Survey shows that the TDP/BJP/Janasena alliance appears to win 136 seats in the upcoming assembly elections is False. The numbers on the survey reports have been modified to make a completely different conclusion.
