Fact Check: Viral Claim About Dharmendra’s Death Is False. Actor is Alive and Stable
Actor's family issued a statement that Dharmendra is alive after misreporting by many media outlets
Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, one of Indian cinema’s most beloved and enduring stars, recently became the centre of an online storm when rumours about his death began circulating across social media platforms. Posts claiming that the 89-year-old actor had “passed away in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital” went viral on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and WhatsApp, triggering a wave of shock and grief among fans.
Multiple media outlets and social-media posts claimed on 11 November 2025 that Dharmendra had passed away at the age of 89, in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. According to these reports, he had been admitted after breathlessness, was on ventilator support and succumbed to his condition.

Fact Check:
The claim is false. Dharmendra’s family has denied the report.
To verify the claim we ran a keyword search and found reports on veteran actor’s health conditions. Dharmendra was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after experiencing breathlessness. We also found that his family and official team have clarified that the veteran actor is stable and currently under medical observation.
His son’s team released an official statement assuring fans that “Mr Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Further comments and updates will be shared as available. Kindly don’t indulge in spreading false rumours regarding his health.”
Echoing this, the actor’s wife, Hema Malini, took to social media to express gratitude for the public’s concern, writing, “Thank you everyone for your concern about ‘Dharam ji’… He is being continuously monitored, and we are all with him. I request you all to pray for his welfare and speedy recovery.
Dharmendra’s daughter, Esha Deol, and other family members categorically denied that he had died. They stated he is alive, stable, and under medical observation following admission for breathlessness. The actor’s team issued a public statement asking people not to spread false information about his health or death.
While Dharmendra is hospitalised and unwell, the claim that he has died is false at this time. The information from his family and reliable outlets indicates he is alive and recovering.
