Telangana MLC K. Kavitha has been suspended from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the party run by her father and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, after she publicly blamed senior party leaders for the federal investigation against KCR.The BRS leadership said it has taken the matter seriously, noting that the recent behaviour and anti-party activities of MLC K. Kavitha are damaging the party. Following the announcement, her supporters launched a protest in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, a video showing the BRS Bhavan burning is going viral on social media, with claims that BRS activists set fire to Telangana Bhavan to celebrate Kavitha’s suspension. Posts carrying the hashtags #BRS, #Kavitha, and #Hyderabad amplified the claim.

According to a report in the Times of India, a minor fire broke out at Telangana Bhavan, the then headquarters of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), when party cadres burst crackers to celebrate the victory of Surabhi Vani Devi, who won the Mahbubnagar–Rangareddy–Hyderabad Graduates’ MLC constituency.

Samayam Telugu also reported that the fire started during celebrations after Surabhi Vani Devi, daughter of former Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao, defeated BJP candidate Ramchandra Rao. Vani Devi secured 1,28,010 votes, while Ramchandra Rao received 1,19,198 votes. The fire accident occurred as party workers burst crackers. Firefighters later reached the spot and doused the flames.

The viral video showing fire at Telangana Bhavan is not recent. It is from March 2021, when celebrations over Surabhi Vani Devi’s MLC victory led to a minor fire accident. The video has no connection with the suspension of K. Kavitha from the BRS party.
