The claim is False. The person saving the girl is not Harshvardhan and the video is not from India. When we extracted the keyframes from the viral video and searched using the Google reverse image search, we found that the video is not from India, but from Srilanka.
We found a video published on X account of Newswire, a Srilankan news agency on January 12, 2025, with the caption “19-year-old schoolgirl was abducted in Daulagala, Kandy on Jan. 11 while traveling to a private class. The suspect, identified as the victim’s cousin. Authorities are continuing efforts to locate the girl”
According to an article published on a news website named ‘The Morning’, we found that the incident happened in Daulagala area, Kandy, Srilanka on January 11, 2025.
According to the newswire, the video shows a 19 year old girl was abducted in Daulagala, Kandy, Srilanka. The girl was rescued and the suspect Mohammed Nassar, was arrested while transporting the girl from Ampara to Kandy. The father of the victim stated that the abduction was an action to extort money from him. The man trying to stop the van in the video was a man named Mohammed Izadeen Arshad Ahmed, a 25 year old electrician. He was injured in his attempt to save the victim. Srilankan police commended the man for his bravery in the attempt save the school girl.
Therefore, the viral video showing a person trying to save a young girl from being kidnapped is not from India, the incident happened in Sri Lanka in January 2025, when a school girl was kidnapped and was later rescued. The claim that a Hindu man tried to save a school girl from 2 muslim men in India is False.
