Heavy pre-monsoon rains brought Bengaluru to a standstill on May 18, 2025, as the city witnessed 130 mm of rainfall in 12 hours. Amid the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast of early onset of monsoon, the current heavy spell of rain is expected to continue in Karnataka, with an orange alert issued for parts of south interior Karnataka, which includes Bengaluru, and coastal Karnataka till May 27, except for May 22, for which a yellow alert was issued. The spell of heavy rainfall is likely to cause flooding in parts of Karnataka.
Parts of the Sai layout in North Bengaluru remained submerged, as a record rainfall of 140mm created havoc in the low-lying locality of the city. Civic authorities are conducting relief operations. Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) teams are working to clear drains and remove stagnant water. However, residents have voiced concerns about the slow progress of these operations.
Meanwhile, a video showing cars parked on the street, submerged in flood water, is in circulation with the claim that it shows Bengaluru rains.
Another YouTube user shared the same video with the claim that it shows Delhi.

The claim is False. The video is not a real one.
When we looked carefully at the video, we found a watermark of an Instagram account @mansoorextra and then we searched for the Instagram account named Mansoor Haider.
When we extracted keyframes from the viral video and searched, we found a video on YouTube published on March 13, 2023, with the title “TikTok, Instagram Reels Viral Underwater filter | Tutorial after 10k subscribers”
Another video was published on March 14, 2023, with the title ‘Viral Underwater effect omg it's real or fake ?’
When we searched the Instagram account, we found that he is a 3D artist and also vfx artist.
Therefore, the viral video showing cars submerged in flood water in the street does not show the situation in Bengaluru or Delhi due to heavy rains. It is Vfx video published by a 3D artist. The claim is False.
