Fact check:
The claim is False. The video showing a young man flying a plane is not from Bihar, India.
When we extracted keyframes from the video and performed reverse image search, we found several posts showing the same video with captions stating that it is from Bangladesh, not India.
We found an Instagram post shared on March 11, 2025, with the caption in Bengali that translates to:“Farmer's son Julhas' plane takes off in front of thousands of people.”
We also found a Facebook post showing the same video with the caption in Bengali: “সবাইকে অবাক করে কৃষকের ছেলে জুলহাসের বিমান আবারো আকাশে উড়লো”, which translates to: “To everyone's surprise, the farmer's son Julhas's plane took to the sky again.”
When we searched further, we found a news report shared on March 5, 2025, stating that Julhas Molla, a young innovator from Manikganj, has stunned the public by successfully flying an aircraft he built himself. On Tuesday (March 4) at 10:00 AM, he took to the skies aboard his aircraft, marking a milestone in his years-long effort.
In an interview, Julhas shared, “It took me three years of research and another year to build this aircraft. The total cost was around 8 lakh takas. The structure is made of aluminum and iron, with a seven-horsepower water pump engine powering it.” He further explained that the aircraft is designed for experimental and training purposes rather than commercial use. However, he believes mass production is possible with government funding and support. His aircraft can reach an altitude of up to 50 feet.
Another news article published in the Daily Star states that Julhas's aircraft is a testament to his ingenuity. Built on a tight budget, it features a gasoline engine that can run on petrol or octane, consuming about one litre for every 25 to 30 kilometres of flight. The wings, covered in fabric, span an impressive 32 feet, while the body measures 18 feet long. The aircraft takes off at a speed of 45 kilometres per hour and can reach a top speed of 70 kilometres per hour in the air. Though it was designed primarily for experimental training rather than commercial use, Julhas is confident that with proper funding and sponsorship, mass production of similar aircraft could be possible.
Therefore, the viral video and images showing a young man flying in a plane are not from India; they are from Bangladesh. The claim is False.
