Priyanka Gandhi jibe PM Modi

The "Voter Adhikar Yatra" was a campaign launched by the Congress party, led by Rahul Gandhi, in Bihar during August 2025. The 16-day march covered 25 districts and aimed to highlight alleged electoral malpractice by the BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI). As Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav concluded the Yatra on September 1, after traversing more than 1,300 km, 25 districts and around 110 assembly constituencies within two weeks, Congress leaders expressed renewed confidence about their chances in the upcoming Bihar elections. Rahul Gandhi popularised the slogan ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhor’ (Vote Thief, Give up the chair). Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also joined her brother in Bihar’s Supaul district as part of the campaign.

Amidst this, a video of Priyanka Gandhi is circulating on social media. In the video, she is seen saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is always occupied with his own pain and compared him to Salman Khan in the film Tere Naam. The clip has been shared widely with captions such as “Trivializing the abuse hurled at PM Modi’s late mother is appalling. Trust @INCIndia leaders to drag the political discourse to new lows every time they speak.”

Other versions of the post claim “Just like Salman Khan keeps crying from start to end in the movie Tere Naam, Modi Ji also keeps crying all the time. A movie should be made on it, and its name should be Mere Naam – Priyanka Gandhi.”

Fact Check:

The claim is Misleading. The viral video is not recent; it is from November 2023.

When we extracted keyframes from the viral video and performed a reverse image search, we found that the same video was uploaded by the YouTube channel of The Economic Times with the title: “‘Modi ji rote hi rahte hain’: Priyanka Gandhi suggests ‘Mere Naam’ movie on PM”
. The description of the video clearly states that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made these remarks during an election rally in Madhya Pradesh on November 15, 2023.

During this rally, Priyanka Gandhi said that Prime Minister Modi always talks about his own troubles. “When he went to Karnataka, he said he was abused a lot. When he came here, he again said he was abused. He keeps complaining,” she remarked. Taking a jibe with a reference to Salman Khan’s film Tere Naam, she added, “Let’s make a film for Modi ji as well, which will be called Mere Naam.” She went on to allege that Modi has a “top-class sense of human beings,” claiming that he has gathered cowards and traitors from across the world into his party. “I feel sorry for the good workers in BJP and RSS,” she added. The same video of Priyanka’s remarks is now being reshared as if it were from the 2025 Bihar campaign.

An article published in Free Press Journal at the time also confirmed these comments, reporting that during an election rally in Datia, Madhya Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi said: “The PM of the country appears to be upset in his own pain permanently. He went to Karnataka with a long list of abuses he faced… It seems like he keeps crying. Have you watched Salman Khan’s Tere Naam? In that movie, Salman Khan keeps crying from start to end. I would suggest making a movie on PM Modi and naming it Mere Naam.”

Telugupost also checked reports of Priyanka Gandhi’s participation in the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar and confirmed that she joined Rahul Gandhi in Supaul on August 26, 2025. However, she did not make the remarks on PM Modi during this campaign, contrary to the claims on social media.

The viral video of Priyanka Gandhi making remarks about PM Modi and comparing him to Salman Khan in Tere Naam is from November 2023, during an election rally in Madhya Pradesh. It is not related to the 2025 Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar. The claim is therefore Misleading.
