Airplane rules cover various aspects of air travel, from baggage restrictions to in-flight conduct. Key rules include storing carry-on baggage in overhead compartments or under the seat in front, and restrictions on items like knives, toy guns, and other dangerous goods in cabin baggage. Passengers should also follow instructions from the cabin crew during emergencies and be mindful of other passengers.

A video of a woman arguing with the cabin crew member is going viral on X with the claim that an Indian girl refuses to fold the tray table for takeoff because of her expensive bag. The caption of the video being shared is:
“She refused to fold the tray table because of her expensive bag. Sis, if your bag is too costly for takeoff, maybe you should’ve bought a jet, not a seat in economy. AMEERO KE CHOCHLE #tranding #viralvideo #Dior #LVFashion #bag #ameer #viral #Girlfights #indigoflight #indigo”

Fact check:

The claim is False. The video is a scripted one.

When we extracted the keyframes from the viral video, we found that the video is scripted. We found a video published on a YouTube channel named ‘Fly High Institute’, an aviation training center based in Nagpur, on October 18, 2024, with the title ‘As per safety regulations, the cabin must be secured for takeoff’.

The description of the video states:
“As per safety regulations, the cabin must be secured for takeoff, landing, and whenever the seatbelt sign is on, as required by the DGCA. Cabin crew are responsible for ensuring all safety protocols are followed, paying attention to every detail. However, it can be challenging to explain the rules to each passenger. In one instance, a lady passenger refused to stow her expensive bag in the overhead bin or under the seat despite multiple explanations from the crew about the importance of following safety procedures, including securing the tray table. Despite the crew’s calm efforts, she continued to resist. Eventually, the crew had to notify the captain, who instructed the crew to inform the passenger that failure to comply with safety rules would result in her being offloaded. Upon hearing this, the passenger quickly cooperated and followed the crew’s instructions.”
