Flyover bridge collapse in Bihar

The next Bihar Legislative Assembly election is scheduled for October or November 2025, as the term of the current 243-member Assembly ends on November 22, 2025. Misinformation has become a significant concern in this context, as people have started spreading unrelated images and videos, attributing them to Bihar.

Several bridges in India have collapsed due to flooding in recent times, highlighting infrastructure vulnerabilities during the monsoon season. Notably, the Jamuaghat bridge in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district collapsed after the Deo River overflowed due to heavy rainfall. Additionally, a bridge in Vadodara, Gujarat, collapsed, causing vehicles to fall into the Mahisagar River. Other instances include a bridge in Bihar that collapsed due to heavy rainfall and flooding.

A video of a flyover bridge collapsing with vehicles and people commuting on the road is being shared on social media, especially X, claiming that the collapsing flyover bridge is from Bihar, India. In the video, we can see a huge flyover bridge pillar collapsing and the bridge falling onto the vehicles and people standing beneath. We can see the bridge falling on one side, but there is no visible debris on the other side. The video is shared with the caption “বিহারের উন্নয়ন লুটিয়ে পড়লো,” which translates to "Bihar's development has stalled."

Fact Check:

The claim is False. The video is AI-generated.

When we extracted keyframes from the viral video and searched using Google reverse image search, we found several social media posts stating that the video is AI-generated. It was shared on Facebook with the caption: “They thought it was just surface damage… until they checked the next pillar. Watch: https://baibunviwe.com/the-bridge-support/ – Made with AI.”

The comments on the post confirm that the video is generated using AI technology. Here is the screenshot.

Upon close observation, the movements of the people and vehicles in the video appear unnatural. People seem to emerge and disappear abruptly. The other side of the collapsed bridge appears clean and undamaged, which is highly unlikely in the case of a real bridge collapse.

When we checked an image extracted from the viral video using the AI detector Wasitai, the results confirmed that it was AI-generated. Here is the screenshot of the results.

Therefore, the viral video showing a flyover bridge collapsing is not real and does not depict a bridge collapse in Bihar. The video is AI-generated. The claim that it shows a flyover bridge collapse in Bihar is False.
