According to an Al Jazeera report, a passenger named Sonu Jaiswal accidentally livestreamed his flight experience on Facebook just before the plane crashed. The 90-second smartphone video began with the aircraft approaching the runway, flying over buildings and green fields around Pokhara in the foothills of the Himalayas. Everything looked normal as Jaiswal’s video shifted from the picturesque views seen from the plane’s window to fellow passengers who were laughing. Finally, Jaiswal, wearing a yellow sweater, turned the camera toward himself and smiled. Then the plane suddenly crashed, briefly capturing the cries of passengers. Within seconds, the footage turned shaky and recorded the screeching sound of an engine. Towards the end of the video, huge flames and smoke engulfed the frame. The Al Jazeera article shares the viral video as well.
According to a BBC report, the Nepal plane crash that killed 72 people, including two infants, was most likely the result of the pilots mistakenly cutting power, said a report by government-appointed investigators. The crash occurred on January 15, 2023, and involved an ATR 72 aircraft. It was the flight crew’s third sector of the day, shuttling between Kathmandu and Pokhara.
Hence, the viral video does not show the tragic Air India crash that took place on June 12, 2025, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It shows the Yeti Airlines crash in Nepal from January 2023.
