Fact Check: Viral Video Claiming Seizure of Weapons and Cash from Kuki Militants in Manipur is False

In a series of joint operations in Manipur, the security forces have arrested 23 extremists and recovered 40 types of arms, grenades, and ammunition. A defence spokesperson said that the well-coordinated joint operations resulted in the arrest of the 23 cadres from various hill and valley-based militant outfits.

Amidst this, a video showing tons of cash and weapons displayed on the ground is going viral on social media with the claim that the video shows the cash, arms, and ammunition recovered from the Kuki militants in Manipur. The caption shared along with the viral video goes as “#Manipur Army Raid reveals *In Manipur Indian Army ⟬⟭ recovered a big stocks of guns, arms n amunication with huge money from anti libration social elements of Manipur. what are now comments from pro opposition parties. ??*”



Some other users shared the same video with caption in Hindi:

Fact Check:

The claim is False. The viral video is from Myanmar and is not related to Manipur.

When we observed the video carefully, we found that BNRA logo is written on the uniforms worn by the armed men. When searched further, we found that BNRA is Burma National Revolutionary Army, which is an insurgent group in Myanmar.

Here is the comparison of the screenshot from the viral video showing the logo on the uniform of the armed men and the emblem of the Burma National Revolutionary Army.

When we extracted the keyframes from the viral video and searched them using Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared on social media with the caption in the Burmese language: “ဖလမ်းမြို့သိမ်းတိုက်ပွဲအတွင်း စစ်ကောင်စီတပ်ထံမှ လက်နက်ခဲယမ်း အများအပြား သိမ်းဆည်းရရှိ (ရုပ်/သံ) ဧပြီ ၁၀၊ ၂၀၂၅ ချင်းပြည်နယ် ဖလမ်းမြို့ကို ချင်းညီနောင်စစ်ဆင်ရေး (Operation CB) အဖြစ် ၂၀၂၄ နိုဝင်ဘာ ၉ ရက်ကနေ စတင်ထိုးစစ်ဆင်တိုက်ခိုက်ခဲ့ရာ ၂၀၂၅ ဧပြီလမှာ အပြီးသတ် သိမ်းပိုက်နိုင်ခဲ့ပြီဖြစ်တယ်လို့ ချင်းညီနောင်က အသိပေးထုတ်ပြန်ထားပါတယ်။ ဖလမ်းမြို့နယ်တစ်ခုလုံး အကြမ်းဖက်စစ်ကောင်စီတပ်သားတွေ ကင်းစင်သွားပြီး တိုက်ပွဲအတွင်း လက်နက်ခဲယမ်း အများအပြား သိမ်းဆည်းရရှိခဲ့ပါတယ်။”

When translated, it states: “Large amounts of weapons and ammunition seized from the military council troops during the battle to capture Falam town (Video/Audio) – April 10, 2025. Chin State's Chin Nyi Naung announced that the Chin Nyi Naung military operation (Operation CB) began on November 9, 2024 and was finally captured in April 2025. The entire Falam township was cleared of terrorist military council troops and a large amount of weapons and ammunition were seized during the battle.”

A longer video is also found published by a Facebook channel named Khit Thit Media with a caption in Burmese language. When translated, it states: “Hundreds of thousands of weapons and ammunition seized in battle for Falam township.”

We also found a Facebook post by Mandalay Free Press, published on April 9, 2025, reporting that Falam, the second largest city in Chin State, was captured on April 7, 2025. The Chin Brotherhood group seized numerous weapons and cash.

Hence, the viral video shows an incident from Myanmar and not Manipur. The claim that it is related to the weapons recovered in Manipur is False.
