An image is being shared on social media, especially on Facebook, showing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi with another person, with a claim that he is Nathan Anderson, the founder of Hindenburg Research.

The claim in Hindi goes as “ये जो पप्पू के साथ खड़ा है वो है हिंडेनबर्ग का चीफ नाथन एंडरसन . अदानी के खिलाफ जो साजिश हुई है वो इसी ने की है। लेकिन इस फोटो को देख के आपकी समझ में आ जायेगा की इसके पीछे कौन है।

When translated, it claims: “The one who stands with Pappu is Hindenburg Founder Nathan Anderson. He is the person who hatched a conspiracy behind Adani’s downfall. Looking at this photo, you will understand who is behind it.”

Fact check:

The claim that the person seen with Rahul Gandhi in the image is the chief of Hindenburg is false. He is a German minister who met Rahul Gandhi during the latter’s visit to Germany in 2018.

When we performed Google reverse image search, we found a few tweets containing the same image, published in 2018.

According to the tweet by the Indian National Congress, the person seen in the picture is Neils Annen, Minister of State and member of the Bundestag, with whom Rahul discussed Indian and German politics, floods in Kerala, GST and jobs.

A few news reports have also shared the same image.

After Hindenburg's Research gave its report on Adani, several news outlets published articles on Anderson. His images are published in these reports, and he looks quite different from the person in the viral image.

Therefore, the person standing beside Rahul Gandhi, in the viral image, is not Nathan Anderson, founder of Hindenburg. The claim is false.
