Fact Check:

The claim is false. The video shows a farmer from Mysuru, not the Karnataka CM.

When we performed a reverse image search on Google, we found several reports published in March 2018 as the video went viral then too.

A report in Bangalore Mirror in March 2018 states that the person dancing in the video is 55-year-old farmer Channamaayi Gowda from Mysuru, dancing at a cultural programme organized as part of an agricultural workshop at Kaggalipura near Kanakapura road on March 6-7, 2018.

The Times of India report states that the video went viral on Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp after a workshop on sustainable grains and millets was held in Kanakapura Road, Kaggalipura’s cultural center in Bengaluru’s suburb.

Channamaayi Gowda whose facial expression, dress, shoes, and speeches matched that of Siddaramaiah won praise from the organisers of the workshop and other farmers also for his dance.

Asianet News also published a report stating that the man dancing in the video was Channamaayi Gowda. It was also mentioned in the report that he also contested against Siddaramaiah as an independent candidate from the Varuna constituency in 2013.

Hence, the person dancing in the viral video is not Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah but his lookalike, a farmer from Mysuru shaking a leg at an agricultural workshop. The claim is false.
