The viral video is not connected to Andhra Pradesh.

Update: 2025-11-01 11:27 GMT

In the wake of a major bus accident in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district, where a private bus and a bike crashed and caught fire, killing more than 20 people, the state government has launched a special drive to inspect private travel buses.

In this context, a 20 seconds video clip is circulating on social media with a caption suggesting that Andhra Pradesh police were throwing stones on vehicles as they were not paid bribes. The video shows people in police uniform throwing stones on those heavy vehicles on a highway during night time.

A user shared this post with a caption in Telugu abusing the government. It was alleged that police were asking for bribes and when they were denied, police were throwing stones on them. The user further questioned whether this is the purpose of the elected government. Some other users also shared this video with the same caption.

Fact check:

However, the claim is misleading, the video showing police throwing stones on heavy vehicles is from Uttar Pradesh. It is not related to Andhra Pradesh.

As the video is going viral, the fact checking team from the Telugu Post has investigated the claims and found that the video is from Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh.

A reverse image search of the screenshot of the viral video has taken us to multiple news reports published in mid September 2025.

According to a Dainik Bhaskar report published in Hindi, the incident took place near the Lodhi toll plaza on state highway 5A in Robertsganj Kotwali area of Sonbhadra in Uttar Pradesh. The report further added that when three speeding trucks allegedly involved in the mineral mafia attempted to crush a surveyor, the police team threw stones to stop the vehicles.

Further keyword search regarding this incident has also taken us to the clarification issued by the Sonbhadhra police on their X account.

The translation of the Hindi post into English says that, “It is to be informed in this case that yesterday on 12.09.2025 at about 11.40 pm, checking was being done by Mineral Supervisor Yogesh Shukla at Lodhi barrier. The Mineral Supervisor tried to stop some trucks for checking, on which the truck drivers, instead of stopping the vehicles, drove at high speed and recklessly and tried to run over the Mineral Supervisor with the intention of killing him. When the police personnel present there stopped the trucks, the truck drivers started driving the vehicles in the opposite lane, on which the police personnel tried to stop the trucks. A case has been registered under appropriate sections regarding the intention to kill by the trucks and suspension proceedings have been initiated against the concerned police personnel and the Inspector in-charge Robertsganj has been placed on line duty.”

Further, this claim was also fact checked by the Andhra Pradesh Fact Check wing. In their post, they clarified that some miscreants are intentionally sharing unrelated incident from Uttar Pradesh to defame Andhra Pradesh police and further warned of consequences.

Therefore, the above evidence suggests that the viral video originates from Uttar Pradesh and it is being misleadingly shared as a video from Andhra Pradesh.
