Fact Check:
The claim is Misleading. The video shows an incident that occurred in Rajasthan.
When we performed a Google reverse image search, we found a longer video shared by a YouTube channel named Update India, on June 3, 2025, with the title ‘Baran Police brought down the arrogance of criminals! They were paraded around the city with their heads shaved.’
The description of the video states: “In Baran district of Rajasthan, the law has shown such a face that everyone was shocked to see it. Actually, these criminals had a big plan to rob the petrol pump, but Kishanganj Police Station raided and caught 5 criminals. Police recovered everything from a country-made pistol to chilli powder from them. Seven other accused of the same gang were also caught in Anta. During interrogation, the criminals themselves confessed that they were preparing for a big crime. Parading in the city with their heads shaven gave a strong message. The next morning, after their arrest, the police shaved the heads of these criminals and made them walk on the streets of the city. During this, cameras kept rolling, the crowd kept watching, and the message of the police was clear: "If you commit a crime, your respect will also be lost." This action of Additional SP Rajesh Chaudhary and Station House Officer Vinod Kumar has now become an example for criminals. By such action, an attempt has been made to instill fear in criminals and to strengthen faith in law among the general public.”
According to an NDTV report, the Rajasthan police arrested the miscreants who were planning to rob petrol pumps in two different places in Baran. The police first shaved the heads of the 12 arrested and paraded them across the city. Police also recovered items like country-made pistols, cartridges, and chilli powder from the accused.
Therefore, the viral video showing police parading clean-shaven miscreants is not related to Prayagraj, UP. The video is from Rajasthan, where police officials arrested persons planning to rob petrol bunks in Baran and paraded them. The claim is Misleading.
