Fact Check : No, the illuminated flyover is not from Hyderabad, it is an elevated road in Jaipur

A video of a flyover illuminated with tricolour lights is going viral on social media citing it to be from different cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata etc.

India is celebrating 75 years of independence in a grand way. The Government of India has started an initiative 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav'. As part of this initiative, several events are going on throughout the country, and different monuments and roads are illuminated for the occasion. Everyone is asked to hoist a flag on the house and people are voluntarily changing their profile picture to the Indian flag, to mark the occasion.

A video of a flyover illuminated with tricolour lights is going viral on social media citing it to be from different cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata etc. Several users claim that the video shows Borivilli, Mumbai, some claim it shows Hyderabad and few claim it is Kolkata.

Fact check:

The claims relating to the viral video are FALSE. The video shows a flyover in Jaipur which is illuminated with tricolors.

When the keyframes extracted from the video are searched using the Google reverse image search, we found a video posted on Jaipur Development authority's twitter account. The video explains that the Sodala elevated road in Jaipur has been equipped with dynamic façade lighting, making it the first of its kind (On an elevated road). The lighting is remotely controlled and various themes can be displayed based on national festivals and other occasions. With themes, the lights change colors.

The video shared here can be compared with the viral video as it shows similar visuals.

According to the report by firstindianews.co.in, Lighting is being done on the elevated road with a length of 2.8 km on one side and 1.8 km on the other side. The lighting system has different themes based on national festivals and other occasions. With themes, the lights change colors. Theme will be different on each day. Earlier such lighting has also been done in Mumbai, Amritsar, Ahmedabad and Bangalore but this is probably the first example in the country of lighting on such a long elevated road.

Another report by Firstindianews.co.in published on its youtube channel, on August 4, 2022, states that the Sodala elevated road has been illuminated marking the occasion of 75 years of Independence.

This claim has been debunked by India Today also.

Hence, the viral claim is FALSE. The video does not show an illuminated flyover in Mumbai or Hyderabad or Kolkata. This elevated road is from Jaipur.
