In fact, the song is from a movie released in 1966.

A video song, Jannat ki hai tasvir.. ye tasvir na denge.., in which the protagonist explains the beauty and importance of Kashmir in India and his resolution to not part with that part of the land, is being viral on social media and social network platforms.

The viral post has a description, which when translated reads: “This song is of 1952. Pakistanis who heard the song while being played on Radio Ceylon pressurized the then Congress government in India, and got it banned. But, the song lived on in the hearts of the patriots and resurfaced now.”

www.telugupost.com found that the same song is being shared with similar claims in Hindi and English for a while. Some users even claimed that the Congress government got it removed from the movie.

When we searched on Google for the song in question, we found the following details

Movie Name: Johar in Kashmir

Release Year: 1966

Singer: Mohammad Rafi

Script and Screenplay: I.S. Johar


The film ‘Johar in Kashmir’ is set in the background of the partition of India and shows the turbulent times faced by Indians and Pakistanis during that time. As the movie is released in 1966, the claim that Pakistanis hearing it play on Radio Ceylon and mounting pressure on the then Congress government to ban the song in 1952 is FALSE.

www.telugupost.com also investigated other claim that the song was deleted from the movie. We had gone through ‘The Gazette of India’ edition of December 17, 1966, in which the Censor Board report for the week ending July 23, 1966 was published.


In that report, the Censor Board stated that they advised for the deletion of the sound for two words, Haji Pir, in the said song in the movie ‘Johar in Kashmir’. The board did not delete the complete song nor did it damage its spirit.
