The video shows CCTV footage in which a person wearing police uniform knocks on the door and asks for a glass of water. When the woman opens the door to take back the empty glass, the burglar enters the house forcefully along with two other people. We can also see a woman resisting them and screaming at them. Later, the robbers are forced to flee.

The video is shared on YouTube with the title ‘Thief in Rohini sec 3’ on November 10, 2022.

The video is also in circulation on WhatsApp with the claim that it shows an incident at Vontikoppal in Mysore.

Fact Check:

The claim that the video shows an incident that took place in Delhi is false. The incident took place in Jaipur in 2022.

When we searched the key frames extracted from the video, we found the same video shared on Twitter account named News 24, with title “जयपुर में पुलिस बनकर आए चोरों ने घर में घुसने कि कोशिश की, महिला ने बहादुरी दिखाकर भगाया।

When translated, it states: “In Jaipur, thieves posing as police tried to enter a house but were forced to flee after the woman showed bravery.” This tweet was made on September 14, 2022.

When searched further using keywords, we found news articles published on September 14, 2022.

According to Times Now news.com, in a shocking incident reported from Jaipur, Rajasthan, a gang of robbers wearing police uniform struck several houses in the city. However, robbers had to flee after facing a brave woman raised the alarm in Mangalam city area.

The CCTV video of the incident shows a robber in a police uniform knocking at the door and asking for a glass of water. When the woman opens the door, the robber makes a forced entry, along with two of his associates. However, the woman fights with the intruders and raises an alarm by screaming for help. Scared over the development, the robbers flee the place.

This incident was also reported by scroll.com.

News 18 also debunked the viral video and clarified that the video is old, dated September 2022 and shows an incident in Jaipur.

Hence, the viral video does not show a robbery in the cities of Delhi or Mysore. The video is an old CCTV footage from Jaipur city, Rajasthan. The claim is false.
