Arun Govil criticises opposition

The monsoon session of the Parliament began on July 21, 2025, and will continue till August 21, 2025, with a break from August 12 to August 18. On the first day of the monsoon session, the INDI alliance slammed the NDA government for various issues. Several Congress MPs were seen taking a jibe at Prime Minister Modi for scheduling visits to the UK and the Maldives from July 23 to July 26, 2025, and not attending the Parliament session during those days. Congress MPs like Jairam Ramesh and Pramod Tiwari are among them. In July 2025, the Indian Prime Minister visited several nations that included Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia from July 2 to July 9, 2025. Later, he visited the United Kingdom and the Maldives from July 23 to July 26, 2025.

In this context, a video showing BJP Meerut MP Arun Govil speaking in Hindi is going viral on social media with the claim that he is criticising PM Modi for travelling abroad during the Parliament sessions. The video of Govil making comments is clubbed with another video showing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi climbing an aeroplane.
The caption on the video in Hindi goes as “संसद शुरू हुई और देश का सबसे बड़ा 'ज़िम्मेदार' विदेश भाग गया! अरुण गोविल भी अब सवाल उठा रहे हैं राम का किरदार निभाने वाला अब रावण की चाल को पहचान रहा है! #Parliament #ArunGovil”. When translated it claims “Parliament began, and the country's biggest 'responsible' figure fled abroad! Arun Govil is now raising questions too. The one who played Ram is now recognizing Ravana's tricks!”
In the video, we can hear him saying, “Those who elected and sent them here, what answer will they give to those people? Did the voters elect and send them here to do all this? How shameful this is, it costs a lot to run the Parliament, but they don’t even care about that, they don’t care about anything about the country.”

Fact Check:

The claim is Misleading. BJP MP Arun Govil is not criticising PM Modi for travelling abroad during the Parliament sessions. He was making remarks at the opposition leaders. When we extracted the keyframes from the viral video and searched them using reverse image search, we found that the video is from July, and the comments of the Member of Parliament are being used out of context.
We found a longer video shared by the X handle of AHindinews, in which we can hear him saying, “This is a very bad attitude of the opposition, they don’t care about how much it costs to run a Parliament, the government has already said it is ready to discuss every issue but the opposition doesn’t want to discuss, they just want to make noise.”
We could see the ANI logo on the video shared by AHindinews, which is the Hindi version of ANI. Taking a cue from this, when we searched for the video on ANI X handle, we found that the video was published on July 23, 2025, with the caption “#WATCH Delhi: BJP MP Arun Govil says, "This is a very bad attitude of the opposition...they don't care about how much it costs to run Parliament...the government has already said it is ready to discuss every issue, but the opposition doesn't want to discuss, they just want to make noise which is very shameful..."
We also found the video published on NBC Awaaz on July 23, 2025,
with the title ‘BJP MP Arun Govil Slams Opposition for Disrupting Parliament | Govt Ready for Discussion’
