Madabushi Sridhar

Driven by an unwavering commitment to building a just society, Prof. Sridhar Acharyulu is a distinguished academic and accomplished professional with rich, cross-disciplinary expertise in law and media. Before joining Mahindra University, he held the position of Professor at the School of Law, Bennett University, Greater Noida. Earlier, he served as the Central Information Commissioner (a role equivalent in rank to that of an Election Commissioner or Supreme Court Judge) from 2013 to 2018. During his tenure, he delivered several landmark judgments and directives on matters of transparency and privacy under the Right to Information Act. He also served as the Registrar of NALSAR University, Hyderabad, and holds a Ph.D. in Law from Osmania University. Prof. Acharyulu is known for his insightful commentary on socio-political issues and public policy. A prolific writer, he has authored 50 books on law and journalism in both Telugu and English, contributed over 100 research articles, and penned thousands of newspaper articles. His journalistic presence includes being a regular columnist for Sakshi, a leading Telugu daily, and Hans India, an English daily based in Hyderabad. He also contributed to a status report on Child Rights in Andhra Pradesh (2000–01). Furthering public awareness, he anchored the live phone-in television program “Bhoomi Kosam” on HMTV in 2012 — a series of 61 prime-time Sunday episodes focusing on land rights.
