TeluguPost Among 10 News Portals Chosen For GNI Startups Lab

Tech giant Google has announced the second cohort of the GNI Startups Lab, a 12-week catalyst programme that aims to help the next generation, independent and early stage Indian news startups achieve financial and operational sustainability.

Tech giant Google has announced the second cohort of the GNI Startups Lab, a 12-week catalyst programme that aims to help the next generation, independent and early stage Indian news startups achieve financial and operational sustainability. Telugupost is one of the news startup selected by GNI for the Startup Labs programme.

Google News Initiative is conducting the 12-week catalyst programme, in partnership with Anymind Group and T-Hub, for a cohort of 10 news startups covering an array of categories in journalism including investigative, political, medical, youth, climate and local news that provides a voice to the underrepresented communities across India.

The diverse cohort features newsrooms from around the country producing news in multiple Indian languages, including English, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu. Among 110 applicants all over the country, Telugupost is one of the 10 startups selected for the programme. Those selected include #Telugupost, The Mooknayak, Queerbeat, SouthLive, Democratic Charkh, Medical Dialogues, Feminism In India, Ground Report, #Pratidhvani, and #Truescoop.

Telugupost.com, operated by Truth Serum Media, is a digital news portal known for its comprehensive coverage, with separate units dedicated to news reporting and fact-checking. With a substantial readership in India (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and other states) and across the diaspora, including the United States, the UK, and the Middle East, the portal has clocked an average of 5 million monthly page views. Telugupost is an IFCN signatory which remains at the forefront of credible journalism.

In July 2023, GNI also concluded Languages program with over 300+ publishers to modernize their online presence and enhance user experiences across web, app and video formats. The feedback for these programs has been immensely encouraging with the participants already seeing an increase in digital ad revenue and deeper engagement.
