A video showing state police beating some young men wearing underwear with sticks in the middle of a street is going viral on social media. The video is in circulation with the claim that the police, who are Bhim activists, are teaching a lesson to people who were threatening upper caste people on Instagram and commenting on them.
The caption of these posts goes as “इंस्टाग्राम पर मनुवादियों को धमकी देने वाली भीमटा गैंग की आज सेवा की गई I टोचन जिंदाबाद.” When translated, it claims: “The Bhimta gang, which was threatening Manuwadis on Instagram, got served today.”
Some users are also claiming that this incident took place in Telangana. The caption goes as “तेलंगाना में भीमटा गैंग की इलाज करती पुलिस..”

The claim is false. The video in circulation is not real; it is related to a Kannada movie named “Deadly Soma.”
When we extracted keyframes from the viral video and searched them using Google reverse image search, we found that the video is an old one. We found a YouTube video published by a channel named Kannada Pichhar with the title in Kannada: “ಡೆಡ್ಲಿ ಸೋಮ 2 ಸಿನೆಮಾ exclusive ಮೇಕಿಂಗ್| deadlysoma movie shooting exclusive making | #shorts.” When translated, it states: “Deadly Soma 2 movie exclusive making | deadlysoma movie shooting exclusive making | #shorts”
We also found a longer video published on an Instagram handle named Kannada Pichhar with the caption: “ಸಿಟಿ ಮಾರ್ಕೆಟ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಟ್ಟೆ ಬಿಚ್ಚಿಸಿ ಅಟ್ಟಾಡಿಸಿ ಹೊಡೆದ ಪೊಲಿಸರೂ | deadly soma 2 movie exclusive making video |” on April 15, 2025. When translated, the title states: “Policemen who stripped and beat up a man in City Market | deadly soma 2 movie exclusive making video |”
We also found a very long video of the making of the movie ‘Deadly Soma 2’ with the title: “ಸಿನ್ಮಾ ಶೂಟಿಂಗ್ ನೋಡಿ ಬೆಚ್ಚಿಬಿದ್ದ ಪಬ್ಲಿಕ್ | Deadly 2 Shooting | Ravi Srivathsa | Dheekshith.” When translated, it states: “The public was shocked to see the cinema shooting – Deadly 2 Shooting | Ravi Srivathsa Dheekshith”
Here is the comparison of the screenshot from the viral video and the screenshot extracted from the video shared by the YouTube channel ‘Kannada Pichhar.’
Therefore, the viral video showing policemen beating young men in their underwear is not a real incident involving police beating Bhim followers who were commenting on others. It is a scene from the shooting of a movie named "Deadly Soma 2" in Kannada.
