Protests against political corruption and the entrenched elites in Nepal, triggered by a recent social media ban, led to the ouster of Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli on Tuesday (September 9). Several senior ministers were targeted, with official residences burned and ransacked by angry protestors, in scenes reminiscent of recent crises in other parts of South Asia. At least 51 people have been killed during these violent protests.
Meanwhile, a video showing a few people taking a procession, by holding a banner with Indian Prime Minister Modi’s image on it, is making rounds on social media with the claim that Indian Prime Minister Modi is worshipped even in Nepal. The caption on the viral posts goes as “देखो चमचों मोदी नेपाल में भी छाया हुआ है‚ तुम लोग डूब कर मर क्यों नहीं जाते आहुल गांडी को साथ में लेकर के।“. When translated, it claims, “Look, bootlickers, Modi is overshadowing even in Nepal, why don't you all drown and die taking Rahul Gandhi along with you.”
Here is the archive link of the claim.
