Meanwhile, a collage of images showing destroyed buildings is circulating on social media with the claim that the Indian Embassy in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, has been attacked.
The caption on the viral images in Hindi reads: “काबुल में भारतीय दूतावास पर कायराना हमला। हर भारतीय का दिल उन बहादुरों के लिए धड़क रहा है जिन्होंने देश के लिए जान की बाज़ी लगाई। आतंकवाद के खिलाफ हमारी लड़ाई जारी रहेगी।” Translated, it says: “Cowardly attack on the Indian Embassy in Kabul. The heart of every Indian beats for those brave souls who laid down their lives for the country. Our fight against terrorism will continue.”

The claim is misleading. The images being circulated are old and unrelated to any recent incident. We checked news reports for any such blast in Kabul recently and found no reports confirming any such attack on the Indian Embassy. There has been no recent blast at the embassy.
We verified the viral images. Here are details of the three images found in multiple social media posts:

Using Google reverse image search, we found that this image is from 2009, when the Indian Embassy in Kabul was targeted in a suicide blast.
The image was published in The Hindu under the headline “India hints at Pakistani link to Kabul attack.” The article mentions that after the suicide car bomb attack, Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao and Indian Ambassador to Afghanistan Jayant Prasad visited the site.
An article on Bangalore Mirror reports that 17 people were killed and more than 60 wounded in the October 9, 2009 car bomb blast.
