Viral video shows sudden cloudburst, which led to heavy rain and floodingFact :
Viral video is AI-generated and unrelated to cloudbursts in India
In July and August 2025, India experienced multiple severe cloudbursts, mostly in the Himalayan region, with major incidents reported in Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh. The most devastating flash flood occurred on August 5 in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, causing significant casualties. Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh was repeatedly hit by cloudbursts and flash floods in July and August, leading to extensive damage and infrastructure loss. In the Kishtwar-Chasoti region of Jammu & Kashmir, a catastrophic cloudburst was reported, with early estimates suggesting 46–60 deaths and more than 200 people missing.
Amid these real tragedies, a video began circulating on social media claiming to show a sudden cloudburst hitting a street in India. The clip shows scooters parked on the roadside when a sudden heavy downpour appears, quickly flooding the street. The video is widely shared with captions such as “नहीं देखा तो देख लें इस तरह फटता है बादल...” which translates to “If you have not seen it, then take a look. This is how a cloudburst looks.”

Fact Check
The claim is false. The viral video does not show a real cloudburst—it is AI-generated.
When observed carefully, the video contains several inconsistencies. Despite the sudden downpour and street flooding, the vehicles parked on the roadside remain unaffected, showing no natural impact from the alleged flood. Screenshots captured before and after the “cloudburst” highlight these anomalies.
To verify, keyframes were extracted from the viral video and subjected to a reverse image search. The same video was traced back to an Instagram account named Kandha Odysseys Vines. It was shared there with the caption “Sudden Flood. This is AI-generated + VFX touched fictional content for entertainment purposes only. #AIVFX #AIGenerated #VisualEffects #VFXMagic #AIVideo #CGIArt #AIReality”
Further checks revealed that the account has posted multiple AI and VFX-generated videos depicting sudden and bizarre incidents. Examples include:
- The account bio itself states: “Reel creator, Reality reimagined in seconds, AI VFX | Short Reels.”
To confirm further, extracted frames from the viral video were tested using Cantilux Deepfake detection tool and the AI detector Wasitai. Both tools confirmed that the video was AI-generated. Screenshots of the results reaffirm the analysis.
The viral video claiming to show a sudden cloudburst in India is not real. It is an AI-generated VFX creation circulated for entertainment purposes. Associating it with the recent cloudburst disasters in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, or Jammu & Kashmir is False.
