This video is being shared on Facebook and Whatsapp.
The claim that the video shows Kashedi Tunnel on Mumbai-Goa highway is FALSE.
The keyframes from the video are used to perform Google reverse image search. This search lead us to a youtube video posted by a channel named 'Being Jugadoo' with title – "Coimbatore to Trichur Tunnel Ride. Recently Opened." This video was published in November 2021.
Taking few words from the title, we searched in Google, "Coimbatore to Trichur Tunnel". This resulted in series of websites and youtube links showing the Kuthiran Tunnel road on Thrissur Palakkad NH. The Kuthiran Tunnel is the first road tunnel in Kerala. It is a twin-tube tunnel, with three lanes in each tube, located at Kuthiran in Thrissur district of Kerala. One of the tunnels was opened in August 2021.
Here is the video by The News Minute, which shows the Kuthiran Tunnel. The visuals from this video when compared with that of the viral video.
Kuthiran gradient was a major traffic bottleneck narrow pass and an accident spot on the crowded Thrissur-Palakkad stretch of the National Highway 544 (India). On completion of works, both the tunnels reduced the distance between Kochi to Coimbatore by 3 kilometres (1.86 mi) and travel time considerably since the tunnel through the Kuthiran avoids hitherto existed vehicular congestions in traversing through the hills. The works on tunnel took more than a decade to complete due to geological and administrative challenges.
So, the video in circulation does NOT show Kashedi Tunnel on Mumbai-Goa Highway, it shows Kuthiran Tunnel in Kerala. The claim is FALSE.
