Fact Check: Telangana CM Revanth Reddy did not say Muslims can’t handle ministerial posts

Telangana CM Revanth reddy addressed the police officials on Police Commemoration day on October 21, 2025. He urged the Maoists to give up arms and join the mainstream society for the betterment. He paid tribute to the CCS constable who was stabbed to death in Nizamabad on October 17, 2025. He unveiled a new memorial at the Goshamahal stadium, paying tribute to the brave police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

He spoke about several topics during his speech, but a newspaper clipping is circulating on social media claiming that Telangana CM Revanth Reddy said ‘Muslims cannot handle ministerial posts’. The newspaper clipping that does not show the name of the newspaper anywhere. The text on epaper clipping in telugu goes as

Fact check:

The claim is False. CM Revanth Reddy did not make any such statement. The newspaper clipping in circulation is a fake one.

When we searched different mainstream media articles with main keywords, we found several media YouTube channels that livestreamed his speech at the Police Martyrs’ Memorial Day programme. We also found several news reports that published key points in the speech, but no news report reported the viral statement.

In the speech, he appealed to the Maoist leaders and activists to surrender before the police and join mainstream life. He commended the Telangana police for their exemplary service in rooting out the Naxal menace in the state. He lauded the Telangana Police for their exemplary service in reducing terror and Naxal activities in the state. He recalled that 191 police officers, including 6 from Telangana, sacrificed their lives while on duty.

He highlighted the emerging challenges such as cybercrime, digital fraud, morphing content, drug-related offences, and human trafficking.

Even after going through the complete videos and articles published about his speech, we could not find any statement made about Muslims or Muslim leaders in the country. Revanth Reddy also noted that friendly policing is meant for law-abiding citizens and not for those who violate the law.

The official X handle of the Telangana Fact Check Division debunked the viral post. It clarified that the newspaper clipping is a fabricated one. The post stated Fake Alert! A fake newspaper clipping is being circulated with a false claim that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said “Muslims cannot handle ministerial posts.” This statement is entirely fabricated — the Chief Minister has made no such remarks. Amid the Jubilee Hills by-elections, several communal misinformation posts are being spread to disrupt peace and harmony in the state. Therefore, the viral post showing a newspaper clipping claiming that Telangana CM Revanth Reddy said that Muslims cannot handle Ministerial posts is a fake one. No such report was published by any news media outlet. The claim is False.
