A viral video claiming to show Operation Sindoor is misleading. Investigations reveal it is possibly AI-generated and predates the recent Pahalgam attack

The Indian Armed Forces have launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.. The Indian Joint Forces launched an attack early this morning on 9 terrorist centers in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Operation Sindoor comes in the wake of the terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 people. Following the operation, the Indian Army posted on social media, stating that justice had been served.
Meanwhile a video is circulating on social media claiming visuals of Op. Sindoor. The video being shared with caption "Answer to the price of a pinch of vermilion 🔥💪 Operation Sindoor in" shows a blast and fumes in a city.

Viral video circulating on social media as India's retaliation in the Pahalgam terror attack is misleading. The visuals are possibly AI generated.
A google reverse image search using the keyframes of the viral video revealed that similar video was online from April 2025. A You tube channel named Jyoti Kashyap has shared the same video on 13 April, 2025. The video has no description or further information.
On further search, the same video is found on another YouTube channel. The account too posted the video with a caption 5 May 2025 and without any details. On close verifying the video posted on 5 May, 2O25 on YouTube channel named @ShivJi-lt9fj we found a username @natural_forceyt on it. From the hint, we did a search on Instagram and found the username @natural_forceyt. The page has several similar content and bio of the account says, "Exploring the power of nature: earthquakes, storms, and more Created By AI".
The viral video is posted on the page on 26 January, 2025 with hashtags including #Tornado #StormChasing #SevereWeather #ExtremeWeather #NaturePower #WeatherPhotography #StormClouds #WeatherChannel #StormLovers #naturalphenomena
To find the possibility of AI in the circulating video, we ran the video through Hive Moderation, an AI-detection tool. Hive Moderation results concluded that this video is 68 percent AI-generated.
Therefore, the viral video in circulation on social media as India's response to the Pahalgam terror attack is misleading. The visuals are online since January 2025 and video is partially AI generated.
