India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on May 10, 2025 after four days of intense military hostilities. Hours after, cross-border firing from Pakistan was reported at several locations along the Jammu border. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting with Rajnath Singh, Dr S Jaishankar, the chiefs of all three services and others at his residence in Lok Kalyan Marg after Pakistan violated the agreement. However, the situation along the LoC is stable now and no ceasefire violation was reported overnight along the border.
Meanwhile,a video claiming that a prayer was held at the Medina Mosque is going viral on social media. A visual of the Medina Mosque, Saudi Arabia, with an audio of a prayer for Pakistan, is being shared widely. The video titled "The Imam of the Prophet's Mosque in Medina prays to God Almighty to grant victory to Pakistan" has a prayer in Arabic which roughly translates to "Oh God, protect our brothers Pakistan. Oh God, unite their hearts and guide their desires according to the book and your Sunnah of the prophet..."

Fact Check:
The claim that the Imam of Medina prayed for the victory of Pakistan amid India-Pakistan tension is misleading. The viral audio dates back to 2007 and belongs to the Imam of Mecca.
We ran a keyword search about the claim and found no recent reports on any special prayer conducted in the Mosque of Medina. On further search we found a 17 year old video posted on a YouTube channel named Path to Taqwa. The video titled "Sheikh Sudais in Pakistan" was posted on June 1, 2007. The timeline of 3:13 shows exactly the same audio in the viral video. The audio added on this video is of Imam Sheikh Abdul-Rahman Al-Sudais praying for Pakistan when he visited Pakistan 17 years ago.
On further search of the event we found a report by The Dawn on the arrival of the Imam of Mecca. The report dated May 30, 2007 says that The Imam-i-Kaaba, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais arrived in Pakistan for a week-long visit. Al-Sudais, is the Chief Imam of the Grand Mosque, Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Hence the claim that the Imam of Medina prayed for the victory of Pakistan amid India-Pakistan tension is misleading. The prayer by the Imam of Mecca during his visit to Pakistan is 17 years old.
