Indian Armed forces conducted missile strike on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7

Claim :
Video shows bodies of Indian soldiers killed by Pakistan army at Dharamshala 1& 2 posts in the Battal sectorFact :
The visual is an old one from the year 2011, and has nothing to do with the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan
Indian Armed forces conducted missile strike on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7, 2025 in retaliation to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025. India's Operation Sindoor, which hit terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pak-occupied Jammu and Kashmir to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack, was named after the red vermilion Hindu women wear on head to signify their marital status. The name is symbolic of justice for women whose husbands were killed by terrorists in the Pahalgam attack. Sindoor can also signify India's red line for Pakistan, which has often used its nuclear status to escape retribution for spreading terror in India. Union Home Minister Amit shah asked India’s border states to prepare the infrastructure against any retaliation strike sponsored by Pakistan. According to reports, 12 civilians were killed, 50 injured including 2 CRPF soldiers in the cross-border shelling by Pakistani forces.
Amidst all this, a short video showing several bodies covered with green cloth is in circulation with the claim that the Pakistani army killed 12 Indian soldiers after targeting Dharamsala 1 & 2 posts in Battal sector. The caption shared along with the video is “Based on correct intelligence, Pak Army strikes Dharamshal 1 & 2 posts in Battal Sector (Opposite Rawalakot) resulting in elimination of at least 12 Indian soldiers. Pak Army subsequently managed to raze both posts to ground through precise strikes.”
Here is the archive link of the claim.
Fact check:
The claim is False. The visuals in circulation are not recent.
When we extracted keyframe from the video and searched them using Google reverse image search, we found that the same visual was shared by an article published on a website named Twenty22 in 2011. The post titled ‘Somewhere on the LoC” states that a 26 year old Army lieutenant and a dozen heavily armed Pakistani terrorists were killed in an encounter triggered after the group was spotted trying to cross a river into the Indian territory in a boat along the Line of Control in North Kahsmir’s Bandipora district.
An article published on a news website Daily Star on August 21, 2011 also shares an image same as the viral video. It states that Indian army soldiers stand near the covered bodies of suspected terrorists killed during a gun battle, at a camp in Gurez, some 160 kms north of Srinagar yesterday. An Indian army lieutenant and a dozen suspected terrorists were killed in a clash along the de facto border that splits Kashmir between India and Pakistan, the army said.
Getty images also shared the same image on August 20, 2011 stating Indian Army Kills 12 Terrorists In Kashmir. Indian Army soldiers stand guard in front the ammunition and bodies of suspected terrorists killed by them on August 20, 2011 in Gurez, Kashmir, India. The Indian Army has claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid by killing at least 12 terrorists in North Kashmir's Gurez sector near the Line of Control, which divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan. A senior Indian Army officer was also killed while two troopers were wounded in the firing by militants who tried to infiltrate by water using a dinghy, an Indian military spokesman said. The army foiled biggest infiltration bid from across the border in Kashmir. Twelve terrorists were killed while trying to sneak into India along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Gurez sector of north Kashmir's Bandipora district. An Army officer was also killed in the gunbattle with the heavily-armed intruders.
Therefore, the viral video showing several bodies covered with green cloth is not a recent one, it is from 2011. The claim that it shows Indian soldiers killed by Pakistan army is False.
