Claim :
A gender-segregated classroom in KeralaFact :
The claim is false. The video is not from Kerala, but from a private coaching academy in Nanded, Maharashtra.
A controversy erupted at St. Rita’s Public School in Palluruthy, Kochi, after a Class 8 Muslim student was asked not to wear a hijab, which the school management said violated its uniform policy. The issue triggered widespread debate across Kerala. Kerala Education Minister V. Sivankutty said the Ernakulam Deputy Director of Education found lapses on the part of the school authorities. Citing the investigation report, Sivankutty stated that the expulsion of the student from class for wearing a hijab was serious misconduct and a violation of the Right to Education Act. The student later left the school due to stress caused by the issue, and the Education Minister assured assistance to help her secure admission to any institution she wished to join.
Meanwhile, a post went viral on social media claiming that classrooms in Kerala had become gender-segregated. The video showed a classroom where male and female students were separated by a wall. The caption read: “Kerala, not Afghanistan. Extremism is a bottomless pit. Hijab in classes first, separation of genders next, only hijab and no kitaab at the last. Women need to wake up!”

Fact Check:
The claim that Kerala has gender-segregated classrooms is false. The institution shown in the video is not from Kerala but from Maharashtra.
To verify the claim, we conducted a reverse image search using Google Lens. We found several similar posts on social media, one of which redirected to an Instagram account with the user ID @aamersrs_mos_academy.
A pinned reel on the page showed the same viral video. The post, dated October 10, 2025, was captioned: “Balance your life with Deen and Duniya — that’s the formula for real success.”
The post was a collaboration with another account, @mukhtar_sir__, who was verified as the teacher seen in the video.
Further research revealed multiple videos on the same page showing a separation wall between male and female students.
On closer verification, we identified the label “MOS” on the students’ T-shirts, indicating the institution’s name.
We also checked the institution’s YouTube channel, whose description reads: “We teach classes 10th, 11th, and 12th (State Board) along with NEET, MHT-CET, and JEE preparation in offline mode in Nanded.”
Based on this information, it was confirmed that the viral video originated from an institution in Nanded, Maharashtra, and has no connection with Kerala.
Hence, the claim that the video shows gender-segregated classrooms in Kerala is false. The institution shown in the video is not from Kerala but from Maharashtra.
