The circulated video is an edited one; the original report is talking about the Pakistani government.
India and Pakistan agreed on May 10, 2025, to halt all military actions with immediate effect, following four days of drone and missile strikes across the border. Director General of Military Operations (DGMO)-level talks between India and Pakistan are set to be held later on May 12, 2025. But even after these truce efforts, Pakistan is continuing its campaign to spread misinformation, using both official channels and social media to incite unrest in India and spread false reports about military events, causing panic among Indian citizens and confusion among the international community. Accounts in Pakistan have been spreading propaganda about the destruction of Indian bases in Gujarat, Uri, Nagrota, and Rajouri. Similarly, a news channel, PTV, said the Akhnoor and Bathinda airfields had been destroyed. All of these claims have been debunked by the Indian fact-check organizations.
Some Pakistani social media handles are sharing edited news reports of Indian media organizations to make false and misleading claims. One such video in circulation is of a news report created by Aaj Tak, an Indian TV channel, being shared by Pakistani handles with the claim that the Indian airfields have been destroyed during the strikes by Pakistan, and the Indian Government is unable to do anything. The claim shared with the viral video showing the Aaj Tak channel anchor and reporter is “India Media Cry about His own Government # Operation Marsoos# IndiaPakWar # IndiaPakistanWar”
Some users shared the viral video with the caption ‘کل تک پورے پاکستان پہ قبضہ کرنے کی خبریں چلانے والا میڈیا آج اپنی فوج پہ برس پڑی✌️✌️✌️✌️. When translated, it claims, “The media, which was running the news of occupying the entire Pakistan till yesterday, rained on its army today.”
This video was also shared by Pakistani military spokespersons to claim that Indian media was showing the airfields being destroyed in the country by Pakistani air strikes. Here is the screenshot of the press briefing.
Here is the archive link of the claim.
Fact Check:
The claim that the Indian media outlet Aaj Tak published that the Indian airfield has been destroyed and the Indian Government is unable to do anything is False. The video of an original news report has been edited and shared by Pakistani social media accounts to mislead the people.
When we searched for the original news report by Aaj Tak, we found a video published by a YouTube user named Shri Seva Kendra, with the title “Pakistan lying in front of International media “. The video shows the Pakistani military spokesperson sharing the viral video, which is an edited version of the news report published by Aaj Tak. The original report can be seen from 0.19 minutes of this video. In the original video, we can hear the anchor clearly stating the strikes of the Indian army on Pakistani targets and talking about the Pakistani government, which is unable to protect its citizens from Indian attacks.
We also found a news 24 article stating that the Fact-Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has debunked Pakistan’s recent blatant lie presented during its military briefing on Sunday. In its media briefing, the DG ISPR of Pakistan, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, used a small part of a full video clip of Aaj Tak News Channel to claim that an Indian airfield had been destroyed. Presenting the clip as evidence, he was heard saying, “Now I will show you another clip which will tell you the story.” The video is a viral video showing the anchor and reporters from Aaj Tak. The video shown by Pakistan DG ISPR has been termed as doctored footage produced in an attempt to mislead its own people. Debunking the lies of Pakistan, PIB shared the real footage, in which the anchor was talking about the destruction of a Pakistani airfield by Indian forces.
